In the former Citroën garage at Stadionplein in Amsterdam the Pon Group has opened MOVE, an exhibition center to demonstrate future mobility solutions. In the basement we find Pon’s collection of vintage Porsches.

Pon is known in the Netherlands as distributor of several Volkswagen-related brands, including Audi, Skoda and Porsche. The founders were involved on a personal level. Already in 1947 Ben Pon Sr made a sketch that inspired the engineers at VW to develop a Transporter. The iconic VW Bus!

In recent years Pon has diversified and expanded into the mobility sector. The group now owns Greenwheels, a car-sharing service. And Pon has become a major force in the bicycle market, buying established brands like Gazelle and Union, and investing in startups such as Lease-a-bike and Swapfiets. Few people know that this company started as a bicycle producer in the thirties!

In the new experience center MOVE in Amsterdam there are several mobility concepts on display. Pon shows a Witkar from the sixties. But also the Sedric, an electric bus developed at Volkswagen. Future scenario’s are presented in interactive demo’s; visitors can experience flying cars for instance. The central rooms will have new themes every so many months. That makes MOVE a permanent stage for Pon events. A theatre for mobility experiences!

Tickets are for sale via Eventbrite.

For car fans the basement serves as garage where the Ben Pon car collection is on display. With vintage Porsches, but also Lamborghini’s and the huge engine of a Bugatti Chiron. Let’s hope the future is as much fun as the past used to be, for sportcars owners. And fahrradfahrers….
