Google, eBay and Facebook: they all experiment with workshops on location. Do the demo! Local events are apparently recognized as an effective add-on to online training.

Under the umbrella Boost with Facebook a two-day event will take place on Nov 11/12 in Eindhoven, that enables locals to get introduced to Facebook and related platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp. Participants can look forward to boosting their career or business.

Boost is the label of a worldwide program of Facebook to promote social media platform, aimed at small and medium size businesses. This autumn Facebook will open the doors of its 17 larger offices (also in Berlin, Paris and London) to welcome small business owners and demonstrate what is possible. Many demo is organized with assistance of partners. In the Netherlands those are INretail and MKB Nederland.

Facebook promotes its Boost events using Splashthat, an event marketing platform that is easy to connect with Salesforce, Marketo and Hubspot.

GOOGLE & EBAY

The owner of Marktplaats in the Netherlands (eBay) has a similar program to guide local shop owners to its auctions and small ad platforms. With the slogan Retail Revival eBay is even opening popup offices that house advisors and local business promotors who assist local shop owners in improving their marketing. This program is tested in Germany, France, the USA and more recently the UK. It hasn’t landed in Holland yet.

Google has. This giant is using a mobile demo school to show in Digitale Werkplaats what the search engine and related platforms (Skype, Youtube) can do for local business owners. The Google school bus will make a stop the next few months in Den Bosch, Utrecht, Leeuwarden, Middelburg, Rotterdam and Lelystad.
